A closer look at ProDrain: Maximize production by placing your crop in control

A closer look at ProDrain: Maximize production by placing your crop in control

As a greenhouse grower you were always taught to create the best possible climate for your crop in order to achieve the desired production results. This makes sense, of course, and up to now, most growers have always been steering their crop from such a 'climate perspective'. But did you know that this approach is no longer the most effective nowadays? Present-day technology allows growers to obtain direct feedback from their crops and include more factors to optimize their growing strategies. This so-called 'crop control' approach enables growers to achieve even better results and grow even more efficiently.

Water disinfection with low pressure UVc

Water disinfection with low pressure UVc

Growers around the world face the challenge of producing food safely and reliably, at affordable prices. A cost-effective method that can help growers achieve this goal is to recycle their drain water (this is the irrigation water that hasn't been absorbed by the plants). Most drain water still contains expensive fertilizers that can be reused to save costs. It is vital, however, that the water is treated beforehand to neutralize any pathogens. Our HortiMaX Vitalite disinfection unit does so effectively and efficiently.

Help! We’re running out of phosphorus

Help! We’re running out of phosphorus

Over the last few years, there has been much discussion about the availability of phosphorus: one of the key nutrients needed for plant growth. Like water, it's becoming increasingly scarce. With so much focus on the shortage of water we tend to overlook the fact that plant nutrients (or fertilizers) are just as essential. Europe has a limited supply of extractable phosphorus. At the moment, the Netherlands is the only European country with a phosphorus surplus. In the Netherlands, the Nutrient Platform was set up to promote phosphate recycling. Prices of this commodity are expected to rise as shortages continue to grow. Will we run out of phosphorus? Is this concern justified and what can we do about it?
